Intake Guidelines

Atascosa Animals Allies is the only private rescue organization in Atascosa County to schedule intake appointments for individuals attempting to find placement for owned, lost, or stray pets. We are a nonprofit, no-kill foster organization that does not euthanize for space. We regularly operate at capacity, and we do not have a walk-in facility. This means we are only able to receive dogs and cats as others are adopted and a foster home becomes available.  Due to high demand and limited housing availability, not all intake requests can be accepted. Please note that to surrender a pet 4 months and older an up-to-date rabies vaccine is required!

Behavior Requirements: All new pets must be social with people and able to be safely handled by our intake team to be accepted into our program.

Intake Fees: To help cover the cost of care for the animals including spay/neuter surgeries, vaccines, and diagnostic tests, a non-refundable intake fee is required at the time of scheduling:
Puppies/Kittens under 4 months of age: $15 each
Dogs 4 months and over: $40 per dog
Cats 4 months and over: $40 per cat
Note: Intake includes us accepting them and putting them into our existing foster homes or if the owner wants to foster them.
